Buying the Observer today as well as the usual Independent reminded me how good John Naughton is. He has been writing sensible and interesting articles about the internet and open source software (among other things) in the Observer's business section for several years. He is also the author of "A Brief History of the Future" which was published in 1999.
His Observer articles are at:

He has a blog at:

He is also involved with the site Living without Microsoft.
