According to this Guardian report, some schools have lost large amounts of information as a result of upgrading their Capita Sims management systems (which holds a near monopoly in this type of software).
This is another reason why the Schooltool project should be supported. If each local authority supported a project like Schooltool with a fraction of the amount they pay for Capita Sims licences, they could have a free and reliable management system for all their schools for ever.
